We at Bagbani believe that people should engage in planting a vegetable garden as guidelines are provided and the procedure is properly explained through the internet. Building a garden and taking care of it is not an easy job, it’s a task that needs to be constant. Veggies require more care than plants but they are less forgiving. Vegetable plant life uses up a giant quantity of electricity blooming and generating fruit that in no way receives to mature as some distance because the plant life is concerned. Plant units to fruit so it could produce seed, however, we generally tend to reap veggies earlier than the seeds are completely formed. This is demanding for vegetable plant life, so it is critical to present to them what they want for fitness and power to hold.
Taking care of a vegetable garden should involve the following steps:
Treat the mulch as your friend, as this will help the soil to cool down and retain water. Adding mulch to your garden every year after planting will help to start the garden on the right foot.
Water the plants regularly as every living thing on earth needs water and watering a plant will fetch better product if the seeds are watered properly.
Fertilizing is important for every garden and choosing natural fertilizer will enhance its value.
Feed the plants at the right time so they produce healthy veggies filled with nutrients. Add vermicompost required in the soil so that it has all the required micronutrients.
- Removal of waste-
Pull out the dead plants as they will make the other plants also weak and dry, so removing the dead plants will help the healthy plants to grow properly.
- Regular digging-
Boost the soil to boost the performance of plants, use clean garden tools so that cleanliness is maintained, and keep the plants in the kind of weather they require.
Harvest the vegetables as soon as they are ripe. When your product is properly matured then ripe it according to your plants, as some products of plants can easily be plucked and some need time to properly cut it. Harvest vegetables when they are dry. At the point of harvesting, the veggies are at their peak for flavor and nutrition.
Prevent your plants from pests as insects can damage the plants or spread disease so inspecting plants weekly will not lead to damage.
Use neem oil and add water for spraying regularly two times a week as it is the natural and best herb in Ayurveda for precautions. If still there are no changes seen then go with pesticides, insecticides, and fungicides.
- Provide support to some plants-
Staking vegetables as some vegetables need extra support to grow. Stake, cage, or trellis systems can help them grow in a better way.
- Requirement of NPK-
Maintain the NPK structure of plants ie N for nutrients, P for the physical structure, and K for Key biology. Use it for spraying and use half a teaspoon of NPK mixed with water.
- Make insects your friend-
Introduce useful insects and organisms in your garden which help your plants to grow better.
Practice different kinds of vegetable gardening as per your choice like container vegetable gardening, stock tank vegetable gardening, fabric raised bed vegetable gardening, etc.
Look for a proper drainage system too for your vegetable garden.
Keep records of your plants with the help of pictures so that you are always guided with good and bad harvest and can even plan techniques.
Taking care of a vegetable garden is similar to taking care of your children as this is a lengthy process and also time-consuming.
